PHNOM PENH, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported 203,279 tons of milled rice to China in the first nine months of 2021, up 18 percent over the same period last year, Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon said on Friday.

China is the top buyer of Cambodia's milled rice, followed by the European Union, he said, adding that the export to China accounted for 49.5 percent of Cambodia's total rice export during the Jan.-Sept. period this year.

The Southeast Asian nation sold 104,222 tons of milled rice to the European market, down 35.5 percent, the minister said, adding that the European market absorbed 25 percent of the overall market destinations.

Overall, Cambodia exported a total of 410,698 tons of milled rice to more than 60 countries and regions, down 16 percent, Sakhon said, adding that the kingdom earned 350 million U.S. dollars in revenue from the commodity's export.

Besides rice, the country had also shipped several other agricultural products to China including cassava, cashew nuts, bananas and mangos, the minister said.

He added that some 39,519 tons of cassava chips and starch, 3,897 tons of cashew nuts, 301,629 tons of fresh bananas, 11,794 tons of mango jams, and 212 tons of fresh mangos had been sold to China during the first nine months of this year. Enditem
