Cargo route connects Chinese, Georgian cities

LANZHOU, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cargo train services were launched on Saturday between northwest China's Gansu Province and Tbilisi, capital of Georgia.

A train carrying machinery and auto parts worth 22.03 million yuan (3.46 million U.S. dollars) departed from Gansu's Wuwei City on Saturday morning, marking the inauguration of the Wuwei-Tbilisi cargo train services, according to the customs of Lanzhou, the provincial capital.

The train will travel 7,360 km through Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to the Georgian capital.

According to Lanzhou customs, major goods exported from China to Georgia include mechanical and electrical products, steel and related products, while the imported goods from Georgia include copper ore, wine and copper products.

Located at the east end of Hexi Corridor, Wuwei was a major trade town on the ancient Silk Road. Enditem
