HONG KONG, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported one imported case of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

The imported case involved a 58-year-old man who arrived from the United Arab Emirates, bringing the tally of COVID-19 in Hong Kong to 11,848.

In regard to a confirmed case reported on Tuesday which involved a 35-year-old man, the CHP said, after examining the clinical, epidemiological and laboratory findings, this case was compatible with vaccine strain contamination.

Therefore, it will not be classified as a case of COVID-19 infection, and the exact source of the contamination will require further investigation.

Hong Kong launched a COVID-19 vaccination drive on Feb. 26 and more than 2.43 million doses have been administered so far. Some 1.39 million people or about 21 percent of its population have taken at least one shot of the vaccine, including more than 1.03 million people fully vaccinated. Enditem
