TAIYUAN, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese localities made strides in legislation in the past year with the focus set on COVID-19 prevention and control, as well as high-quality economic development, according to a national symposium on local legislation held in Taiyuan in north China's Shanxi Province.

In response to the actual needs, a raft of local laws and regulations were made, amended, or abolished by 353 legislative bodies across the nation from October 2019 to September 2020, said the symposium.

These applied to wild animal protection, public health emergency responses, health care management, business climate improvement, and business rights protection, among other areas, the symposium said.

Some others were introduced for pollution prevention and treatment, garbage sorting, and rural vitalization, it added. Enditem
